THRILLING WATER FALLS

Waterfalls in Orissa

New Mexico has been gilded with incomparable scenic beauty and an abundance of sunshine. Cerulean skies graduate in depth of color the higher above the horizon your eyes climb, interrupted only by velvety smooth red-rock outcrops and snow-capped mountains. Fiery sunsets and brilliant sunrises give the illusion that God just threw a bucket of paint into the sky while processions of wispy cloud formations provide the promise of much needed rain as they sweep past the parched escarpment. A vibrant and diverse topography provides striking contrasts in terrain. It's easy to focus on the many reasons New Mexico truly earns the sobriquet "the Land of Enchantment."

"Glass is half empty" folks might argue that New Mexico has been "shortchanged" when it comes to water-based enchantment and would point out that "waterfall" in our blessed state means that the water falls only on occasion and in parsimonious amounts. The rest of us would retort that sometimes less is more and cite as evidence, the volcanically formed and preternaturally beautiful Soda falls in the Jemez River valley.

We offer lakefront homes on Douglas and Cherokee Lakes. MENTION Smoky Mtn. Mall when booking for a FREE NIGHT or 5% off June, July and August. Excludes Holidays. Offers cannot be combined. Minimum night stay requirements must be met. New bookings only.

The Pigeon River is known for it's beautiful scenery and thrilling white water rafting. The rivier is located in the heart of the Smoky Mountains and flows into the French Broad above the Douglas Dam and reservoir.

The Little Pigeon River, which is often confused with the Pigeon River because of it's name, is more well known in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area. The Little Pigeon River is divided into three prongs, which are: east, middle and west and flows only within Sevier County, Tennessee. The Little Pigeon River offers many activities as well as riverside lodging and real estate. There is children’s fishing along the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River. There is riverfront camping, riverside cabin for sale and rentals, shopping and rafting available. You can have a view of the Little Pigeon River from the Forks-of-Pigeon-River Historical Park, which offers beautiful views of the river from a seating area with benches overlooking it located in Pigeon Forge. Another park located in Pigeon Forge you can see amazing views of the river is Patriot Park, which has a large gazebo that overlooks the river. The North Gatlinburg Park is located on the banks of the West Prong of the River.

The most known in this area is Douglas Lake with the beautiful 513 miles shoreline leading to the rolling hills of the Smoky Mountains along it. It is located near Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Douglas Lake offers camping, lakeside lodging and the Douglas Reservoir Overlook which overlooks the Douglas Dam and French Broad with views of the Smoky Mountains. The Trotter Bluff Small Wildlife Area is located on Douglas Lake and features walking trails on the 30-acre wildlife area. Douglas Lake offers many activities and with its spectacular views no wonder why real estate is in high demand there.

Abrams Creek and waterfall both were named for Cherokee Indian Chief Oskuah who later changed his name to Abram. The Cherokee Indian Chief came from a village on the Little Tennessee near what is known as Abrams Creek. Abrams Creek is the largest creek located entirely in the Smoky Mountain National Park and leads to the largest natural pool within the area. There is hiking, camping, Tipi rental, swimming and wonderful scenery on Abrams Creek.

LeConte Creek once known as Mill Creek because of its large number of mills that sprouted up alone the creek side at one time. It is located off the Rainbow Falls Trail. Along the Rainbow Falls Trail you cross Le Conte Creek several times with a beautiful view of the creek from a footbridge. LeConte Creek is the main drainage for Mount Le Conte which can be seen live here
